Holiday Homes Open for Tour
by Ruth Lepper

Despite setbacks caused by the Cedar fire, Julian Woman’s Club members have decided to go ahead with plans for its annual Holiday Home Tour scheduled for Dec. 12.

The tour, going on for more than 30 years, will feature two historical buildings in the townsite and two
rustic cabins that have undergone renovations.

First on the list is the Julian Gold Rush Hotel. Innkeepers Gig and Steve Ballinger have chosen a Victorian theme with their holiday decorations, keeping within the time period
following the years that the hotel was built in 1897.

Julian Pioneer Museum will be open for the tour with self-guided information sheets for the
visitors. Penny Watson said she will have "things to find" on the list, similar to a scavenger hunt.

The more feminine of the two
cabins on the tour belongs to Eleanor and Brian Burns. Eleanor, host of the television program "Quilt in a Day," is sure to have a variety of quilts on display at her home.

On the masculine side of décor is the home of Paul Burgio. He has spent many days refurbishing the cabin and will have it ready in time for the tour.

The tours, with transportation
provided by members of the Woman’s Club, will leave Julian Community United Methodist Church at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. There will be a craft show and baked goods sale at the church.

Tickets for the tour are $12, available at Julian Tea & Cottage Arts, 2124 Third St. For more information, call Edie Seger at (760) 765-0832.
