VICA Students Compete

Ramona High Schools Skills-USA VICA club, a club for vocational education students, competed Feb. 21 at Colton High School.

Students competed in several skill areas, including automotive service, collision repair, drafting, motorcycle service, small engine repair and welding.

Students were tested in their skill areas with demonstrations, hands-on tasks and written exams. Those who earned gold medals will compete at the state conference April 22-25 in Riverside. Silver medalists are alternates and will attend the conference, hoping for a competition stop in their skill area.

The 31 Ramona medal winners and their skill areas are as follows:

• Intro Auto Team B (10th – 12th grade): Randy Alldredge, Amanda Brooks, Jennifer Brown and Greg Whigham; gold medals

• Intro Auto Team A (ninth – 10th grade): John Blessing, Kory Collier, Lane Drier, and Mike Funkhouser; gold medals

• Intro Power Equipment Tech.: Dustin Lund and Nick Grato; gold medals

• Power Equipment Tech.: Nick Borges, Brandon Freeman, Nicholas Grassilli, Kelly McGinnis, and Nick Sims; gold medals

Post Secondary: Mike Larson; gold medal

• Collision Repair Tech.: Versain Jaramillo; silver medal

• MIG Welding: B.J. Warren; silver medal

• Motorcycle Service Tech.: Jason Borges, Thomas BuMiller, Cory Evenson, and Andrew Montanez; gold medals

Post Secondary: Vince Grato and Nicole Spounias; gold medals

• Auto Service Tech.: Brian Connolly, Garrett Raines, Matt Whitmarsh; gold medals

Trevor Red Elk; silver medal

Post Secondary: Paul Manley; gold medal

Matt Funkhouser; silver medal

• Drafting ARC. CAD: Cylix Shane; gold medal

All gold medalists will prepare for the upcoming state conference by studying in their skill areas.
