Volcan Foundation Raises $13,000 At Annual Event Everyone came out a winner at the 13th annual gala Volcan Mountain Preserve Foundation dinner/dance held April 4 at Camp Stevens. The silent auction is always the highlight of the event. This year was no exception. The auction generated approximately $13,000 in a lively sale of 73 donated items including work by local artists, lodging and dining gift certificates, and goods and services contributed by Julian businesses. Big winners included: John and Barbara deKergulen, who walked away with seven nights in Paris and the Loire Valley; Gene and Martha Myers, who will be spending a week at Rancho La Puerta, and Corey Jones, who won an all-day fishing trip for four to six people. Prize donors included Nancy Parnillo, who contributed the lodging in France and a four-night escape on Mission Bay; Orchard Hill Country Inn, which contributed dinner for two; Carol Nagy Jacklan and Sally Snipes, who donated garden consultation; and Warm Hearth and Tyler Stamets, who donated chimney cleaning and fireplace inspection. Volcan Mountain Preserve Foundation is working to acquire and preserve the last 1,800 acres on Volcan Mountain from development. According to Susan Cary, executive director, "We are determined in our efforts to secure funding for the acquisition and preservation of this pristine area for you, your descendants and the future generations of San Diego’s people and wildlife." |
