FIRESTORM VOLUNTEERS RECOGNIZED BY THE PADRES!
Members of the San Diego Firestorm Community Recovery Team, the regional voice of fire survivors from 2003s Paradise and Cedar fires, were the first ever to be honored by Volunteer San Diego and the San Diego Padres at the new downtown ballpark. Accepting the "Volunteer of the Month" award on behalf of the CRT members who have contributed more than 23,000 hours of service since the disaster began, were Chris Tuthill and Teresa Manley.
On the field in front of a record sized crowd, the ovation for Chris, Teresa and all members of the CRT, was a testimony for all of our achievements. Their message was, "We are convinced in our hearts that together we can make a difference." Here at Volunteer San Diego we have seen first hand the change we create by becoming a community that cares.
