Elyse Kuhn, president of the Friends of the Ramona Library, will convene a meeting of the board at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19. Members will review the status of the application for state Proposition 14 funding for a new library in Ramona, as reported by the fund-raising committee at its May 12 meeting. All members are asked to be present. Meetings are always open to the public. The Acquisition Committee met in May and selected 50 newly released, adult books with its $500 budget, which in matching funds doubled the purchase to $1,000 for new books. Since the books require plastic covers and pockets, the committee convened again and prepared the books for distribution. The Ramona Rodeo parade will be held on Saturday, May 15, and all roads to the library will be blocked off during the event. The Friends’ Mini-book sale scheduled for that day will not be held. Mark your calendars for the next Mini-book sale on Saturday, June 19. The library will be closed Monday, May 31 to commemorate Memorial Day. |
