Ramona High School’s Vocational Industrial Clubs of America Competed in Skills-USA State Conference

Ramona High School’s Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) competed April 22 to 25 in the Skills-USA State Conference. This was Ramona’s 15th year at the state conference where about 750 students converged to find the best in each contest area. Respective contest areas were Power Equipment Technology, Automotive Service Technology, Collision Repair Technology, Welding, Drafting, Customer Service, and Public Speaking. Ramona High School competitors earned the right to compete at state by competing with 35 high schools and earning a gold medal at the regional contest last January at Colton High School.

Results for this years medal winners:

• Silver Medal – Intro Automotive Service Grades 9-10: John Blessing, Mike Funkhouser, Kory Collier, and Lane Drier

• Gold Medal – Intro Automotive Service grades 11-12: Amanda Brooks, Jennifer Brown, Randy Alldridge, and Greg Whigham

• Silver Medal – Auto ServiceTechnology: Brian ConnollyMatt Funkhouser (post secondary)

• Bronze Medal – Power Equipment Technology: Nicholas Grassilli

• Silver Medal – Power Equipment Technology: Kelly McGinnis

• Gold Medal – Power Equipment Technology: Brandon Freeman

• Gold Medal – Power Equipment Technology: Mike Larson (post secondary)

• Bronze Medal – Job Interview: Mike Larson

• Gold Medal – Customer Service: Sara Anderson

• Bronze Medal – Motorcycle Service Technology: Andrew Montanez

• Silver Medal – Motorcycle Service: Technology Thomas Bumiller

• Gold Medal – Motorcycle Service: Technology Jason Borges

• Bronze Medal – Post Secondary: Vince Grato

• Gold Medal – Post Secondary: Nicole Spounias

Regional Vice President, John Pollett will be attending leadership training and the national voting delegate meetings while five of the gold medalists will be attending the national conference in Kansas City, Missouri, June 21-25, this summer. Ramona High School Skills USA Club wishes to thank the community for their support. Students may be looking for small donations from the community to help with their trip.
