Parade Team Steps Out A New Team has stepped forward to produce Julian’s annual Fourth of July parade this year. Heading up the parade committee for 2005 is Mike Menghini, who takes over stewardship from Jim Mazzone, who along with Joe Romano produced the community-wide event for the past decade. Jim, who resigned as parade committee chair at last summer’s recognition barbecue, continues to be involved with the event as a board member and consultant. Other officers include Dana Pettersen, long time parade volunteer, who will serve as vice president, and Janet Bragdon, secretary/treasurer and entry chair. At its initial planning meeting, the committee selected chairs for each of the jobs involved with producing the parade and established a timeline to get the project going. One of the first activities of the committee is to solicit sponsors to provide much needed financial support, according to Dana Pettersen, development chair. “Every contribution will help us undertake the many activities needed to present and improve the parade. Some of these include town decorations, signage, advertising, crowd control, restrooms, and expenses for certain entries. If you would like to contribute this way, please contact me.” In addition to the officers, committee members include: Wes Bannister, Jack Shelver, Krisie Morgan, Bobbi Zane, Mary Morris, Cheryl Brown, and Carol Ruffell. The parade committee is looking for volunteers. For information on how to become involved contact Krisie Morgan at the Julian Chamber of Commerce, (760) 765-1857.
