San Diego’s Grand Pacific Band is slated to make its fourth consecutive appearance at the Julian Fourth of July Parade. Well known in military circles the 30-member band has a rich history of performing at Navy and Marine functions, particularly for change of command events. Conceived in 1982 by George Wheeler and John Flanagan as “a turn of the century town band,” the Grand Pacific originally performed in Seaport Village on Sunday afternoons. On July Fourth the musicians will set a lively tone for Julian’s town parade and remain in town to entertain visitors following the event.
