Another great Air Show is in store this year in Ramona scheduled for June 25, & 26, 2005 at the Ramona Airport located at the end of Monticeto Road. The gates will open at 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday beginning the day with a pancake breakfast. Admission to the Air Show is $5 for adults, children under 12 are free.

Air Show Director, Carol Fowler explained, “It will be a great weekend! We have planned a full weekend of spectacular aircraft fly-bys and lots of different airplanes. We have also planned another great Hot Rod Show for Sunday.” In addition, ultra-light planes, aircraft rides, food vendors and lots of ground activities for the whole family are planned. On Sunday, from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. visitors will enjoy seeing vintage dragsters, show cars—pre-1972 on display. Ramona Air Show “Miss Props & Rods” Ashley Taylor, will be presenting the winning trophies. Ramona Air Show Car Show Chairman, Tony Montegna will again arrange for a spectacular race between airplanes and dragsters for the crowd’s enjoyment.

The Ramona Air Attack Base initiated the first Ramona Air Show with an “Open House” in 1995. They will join in to present this annual event. Fire Pilot Billy Hoskins, a long time Ramona resident and a veteran of over thirty years of aerial fire fighting will be on hand to fly his fire plane Tanker 70. Locally known as, “World Famous in Ramona,” Hoskins is recognized as unsurpassed for his skill and abilities throughout the aerial fire fighting industry.

Plenty of aviation souvenirs, T-shirts and caps will be on sale. Be sure to check out the new Prop’s & Rod’s T-shirts. Lots of other vendors will present their wares and many food vendors will be on site to provide a variety of snacks and culinary delights.

The important part of this event is that the profits will benefit the families of aerial fire fighters who have perished in the line of duty. In addition, scholarships for local students with careers in Aviation and Fire Fighting have been added to this worthwhile cause.

So make plans to attend this spectacular event! Bring your chair, sunglasses, and camera and have some fun! Sponsorships, participants and vendor applications are still available. Volunteers are desired and welcome! Please call and ask for details (760) 522-1777 or go to the web site at: www.RamonaAirShow.com.
