California Distinguished School
Julian High School raised the flag signifying that it received one of the highest honors bestowed on schools by the California Department of Education, California Distinguished School for 2005. Julian is one of 11 schools in San Diego County to receive the honor, according to teacher Cheryl Maisch, who coordinated submission of the application and follow-up process. “We qualified on the basis of our test scores and academic performance index,” she said. “And we demonstrated that our curriculum meets state standards in English, math, science and social studies.” Awards were presented at the Disneyland Hotel on May 20; the flag raising was held on May 25.
