Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego Honor Youth of the Year

Kaleb Bilinsky was recognized for generosity, enthusiasm and leadership qualities. Shown with Michelle Regan, Vice President of Operations; and Mark Baker, Chair-Elect for the Board of Directors.
On Monday, June 6th, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego honored this year’s Youth of the Year winners from all eleven branches at an awards dinner at the Doubletree Golf Resort. Staff from each branch voted on the member they feel best represents the Boys & Girls Clubs’ core values. Club Alumni, Stan Murphy, California’s Teacher of the Year and one of four National Teacher of the Year finalists, helped present the awards to these outstanding club members. This year Ramona Club member, Kaleb Bilinsky, was recognized for generosity, enthusiasm and leadership qualities.

In addition to the Youth of the Year honored, college scholarships were awarded to graduating seniors. The Boys & Girls Foundation provides scholarships each year to students who have been a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego for one or more years and are planning to attend an accredited college of university full-time (12 units) in the same year after graduation from high school. Applicants are judged on community service, evidence of leadership & citizenship, and academic record. Sean Nelson of Ramona High School was one of this year’s scholarship recipients.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego is a community-based organization that provides young people with a fun, safe and constructive after school environment. The Ramona branch is located at 622 E Street and can be reached at (760) 788-7564.
