Eight Vie for Merchants Board

Eight candidates are running for five open seats on the Julian Merchants Association Board of Directors. This is the largest roster of candidates to run for the seats in recent years.
Among the candidates, Ruth Lepper, a journalist who writes for this publication and the San Diego Union Tribune, is running for a second two-year term on the board. Elke Mussen, Mountain Gypsy and the Julian Drug Store, served on the board previously and was treasurer of the organization. Other candidates include Michele Harvey, Julian Yesteryears and Julian News; Pam Churness, Log Home Castles; Patricia McConnelly, Santa Ysabel General Store Antiques; Pat Richardson, Enrichments Gallery; Patty Strong, Mountain Beadworks; and Melony Vance, Books in Nooks in Wynola.
The ballots will be mailed to current members along with a dues statement; members may return the ballots with their dues.
The election will take place at the Merchants annual meeting and barbecue set for the Menghini Winery on July 20, when the nominations will be presented. Additional nominations will be accepted at that time.
Current board members are: Tracy Turner, Wynola Junction Antiques & Collectables; Bobbi Zane, Yellow Brick Road; Tori Stark, Photos by Albie; and Allan Marvin, White House Bed & Breakfast.
