Stars to Illuminate Wynola for Friday Night Events

By Bobbi Zane

Stars will illuminate Wynola Nights, a gala open house scheduled by the Wynola community on Friday evenings. The summer-long celebration featuring food, wine, art and festivity was launched by a new show at the Art@78 Gallery on July 1.

Wynola Nights, set for 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays throughout the summer, features art, antiques, books, chocolate, fashion, food, music, and wine...all wrapped up in a stylish package. “It’s a tantalizing opportunity to explore the businesses in the stylish Wynola community in the festive atmosphere of an open house,” explains Leena Hannonen, owner of Art@78 Gallery and one of the organizers of the event.

The gallery show, the Naked Truth: Figurative art without limitations, features works by Julian and North San Diego County artists including Charlotte Mitchell, Chuck Kimball, Don Weeke, Julia Fiertz, D. Goth, Polly Jacobs Giacchina, Leslie Ginn, Matthew Morgan, Leena Hannonen, and Antonia Cosentino. These artists employ a variety of media ranging from bronzes to fiber to photography.

But the gallery show is only one allure of the Friday evening events. You can sample award-winning wines at Orfila Winery tasting room, shop for stylish apparel and accessories at Spot and the Wool Dog, browse a thoughtful selection of new books at the Books in Nooks, hunt for bargains on treasures at the Wynola Junction Antiques & Collectibles by purchasing directly from dealers, savor chocolate from King Leo, and conclude the evening dining al fresco at Wynola Pizza Express, or Tom’s Chicken Shack.

Wynola Nights are scheduled Fridays through August. Wynola is a small historic community lying astride Hwy. 78, just four miles west of Julian.
