Julian’s Best Teacher Will Contend for Top Honors at COX Presents: A Salute to Teachers

Julian resident, Yvonne Edman, is among 45 of San Diego county’s top educators vying for San Diego County Teacher of the Year honors, Saturday, October 8 during the 15th Annual Cox Presents: A Salute to Teachers. Televised live at 7 p.m. from the San Diego Civic Theater on Channel 4 San Diego.

Yvonne says her job as a teacher is to find the need in each child and to fill it, and to create an environment where a love of learning can be encouraged and nourished. Whether it is hugging and greeting her kindergarten students or organizing them into their reading groups during Literacy Block, Edman’s goal is to create a classroom environment full of safety and knowledge. Rather than focus on what students cannot accomplish, Yvonne asks what they can do — all with a smile and a hug.
