Alephonsion Deng was the Sept. 23 Ramona Rotary Speaker
 | | The ‘Lost Boys of Sudan’ was a group of 20,000 young men; taken from their families and walked over a 5 year period from war torn Sudan to Kenya. The boys were aged 7 and up. 4,000 of the 20,000 young men were lost to lions and crocodiles. They lived for 9 years in a refuge camp in Kenya where they educated themselves.
Alephonsion Deng was one of the ‘Lost Boys’ who ultimately ended up in America. Deng has been living in San Diego since 2001. He is currently working for Kaiser Permanente in the records department and taking English classes at a community college. He is also a public speaker and has written a book.
