Valorie Ashley is popping her buttons with pride. Her bed and breakfast inn, Villa de Valor/Hildreth House, has received its fourth honor from Arrington’s Inn Traveler, a publication read throughout the United States and Canada.

Ashley has been named “Best Innkeeper” for the 2006 list of inns.

This isn’t the first time Ashley and her inn have been singled out by the publication. In 2005, Villa de Valor/Hildreth House was named “Best Anniversary and Honeymoon” getaway. The year before, it received the distinction of “Best Antiques” in a bed and breakfast.

And in 2003, the honor was “Best Art Collection” That award was near and dear to Ashley’s heart, because the artwork she displays throughout the bed and breakfast are original pieces she has painted through the years.

Ashley and her inn were featured in an article in Arrington’s Inn Traveler last year.

Villa De Valor is a romantic, Victorian home built in 1898 and located in the heart of Julian’s Historic District at 2020 Third St. The villa celebrated five years of operation in July.

The historic inn is a short walk to Main Street, where guests can enjoy the unique shops, restaurants and a winery.

The home is recognized as a point of interest by the Julian Historical Society as the former residence of Julian’s beloved physician. Dr. Herman L. Hildreth was employed by the federal government and served the Native American reservations in San Diego County in the early 1900s.
