November is “I Am So Thankful Month” at Ramona Library! I am so thankful for the Pilgrims, the Native Americans, for schools and my education, for the crop harvest, for veterans, for Election Day, for new books, for parents and teachers.

What are you most thankful for this month? This year?

Preschoolers will enjoy Storytime and a Craft with volunteer Julie Fuller at 11 a.m. each Wednesday. Topics will include:

Nov. 2 – Fall Sports

Nov. 9 – A Patriotic Thank you

Nov. 16 – Native Americans

Nov. 23 – Turkey Tales

Nov. 30 – Leftovers

Grandparents and Books volunteer, Donna Shelton, will read favorite stories to the children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays, Nov. 3, 10 and 17. Pause a moment while your child is carried away to the creative land of great enchantment!

Help with homework is available at your library. School children wanting that extra assistance can get help on weekdays after school. High-school students will be available to assist with homework assignments. For more information, call the library reference desk at (760) 738-2434.

Would you like to have input in the activities and materials provided to the teens by your library? A Teen Advisory Group meeting will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16. Come join this start-up meeting. All teens are invited. Refreshments provided!

The Adult Book Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15 to discuss “The Man-eaters of Tsavo,” by J.H. Patterson. If you enjoy reading and discussions, why not join this literary group and add your viewpoint! It’s reported to be a healthy, but not heated, review.

Do you needing help with electronic know-how, such as e-mail, the Internet, library resources or just understandable “computerese”? Volunteer coach, Mr. Spring, is available from 10:15 to 11 a.m. each Monday to assist you in your search to join the up-to-the minute literate computer user group. Call the library at (760) 739-2434 to reserve your spot in the Monday morning class.

Elyse Kuhn, president of the Friends of the Ramona Library, will convene a meeting of the board of directors at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16 in the Community Room. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in board discussion and planning.

The “best literary buy in town” is the Friends’ book sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. For the greatest selection of fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, reference, cookbooks and more, come early! Paperbacks will be 25 cents and hardbacks $1; collectors’ table first-editions and specialty books will be $5; and video and audio tapes, $1 or 50 cents. What a find! This is a benefit of our children’s and adult programs of our Ramona Library! See you there!

Among the joys of being thankful this November are Veterans Day on Friday, Nov. 11, and Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 24. On Friday, Nov. 25 the Library will be closed in commemoration.
