Watercolor Instruction Book by Joe Garcia

Native Escondido artist Joe Garcia’s second watercolor instruction book, “The Watercolor Bible,” published by North Light, is now available in major bookstores. Garcia’s first work, Mastering the Watercolor Wash, is so popular it’s in the third printing. Signed copies of both books may be purchased at the Falcon Gallery in Julian and Santa Ysabel Art Gallery, or through the author directly.

Garcia has been a resident of Julian since 1989. He is an active participant in regional and national art communities. For over 30 years, he has taught adult education in Escondido and workshops around the nation and in Europe. Locally, his work is shown at the Falcon Gallery, Santa Ysabel Art Gallery, and each May at the annual Reflections of Wildlife art show sponsored by the Fallbrook Art & Cultural Center.

At the national level, Garcia exhibits his watercolors of wildlife and oil landscapes in galleries and exhibitions throughout the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

Quoting the publisher about The Watercolor Bible: “ ‘The Watercolor Bible’ ” is your complete and definitive book on watercolor techniques and principles, jam-packed with indispensable advice for nearly every aspect of working with the medium.

Artist Joe Garcia
In essence, this book holds the equivalent of over 20 years of painting experience. In addition to classic rules of composition and color principles, Joe Garcia shares his personal favorite color combinations and breakthrough concepts that helped him along the way. Although this book is loaded with information, it’s presented in a friendly, straightforward, heavily illustrated way so that it’s not at all overwhelming.
