Library Corner The Library is celebrating our Presidents, our health and all lovers this month of February. Storytime and crafts for the preschoolers continues on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. with Julie Fuller celebrating February events. • Feb. 1 – Children’s Dental Health Month • Feb. 8 – Valentine’s Day • Feb. 15 – National Hot Breakfast Month • Feb. 22 – Black History Month The special bilingual (Spanish/ English) storytimes this month are at 6 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 14 and Feb. 28. On Sat., Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. the Library will host an additional bilingual storytime. Grandparents and Books volunteer reader, Donna Shelton, will be at the library on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The elementary aged children will enjoy a special “Kids Crafts” on Fri., Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. For students needing assistance with homework, Homework Helpers are available on Mondays through Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. The Ramona Teen Advisory Group (RTAG) will have its monthly meeting on Wed., Feb. 8 at 3:30 p.m. The library will supply refreshments. A family program celebrating Black History Month featuring musician, Nicola Clay in a program of West African dance and music will be enjoyed on Sat., Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. Everyone learns how to dance and play instruments, games and sing an African song. Soul food treats will follow. The library will have a display of especially interesting books in celebration of Black History month. The Adult Book Club will meet on Tues., Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. and review “John Adams” by David McCullough. Reservations are not required. A beauty spot on Main Street is the flower garden with its brightly blooming blossoms announcing the place of the Ramona New Library, thanks to Elyse and Bernie Kuhn’s continual care and, with Meyers Real Estate providing the water to maintain the flower garden designed by Tom Serio, science teacher at Montecito High School. We are all eagerly awaiting the construction of that real beautiful educational development — The New Ramona Library. Computer classes for the computer illiterate, who really want to rise to the new electronics age, are available Monday at 10:15 a.m. Call the library at (760) 738-2434 for reservations. A new Spanish language basic computer class is being offered in four sessions at 6 p.m. beginning Thurs., Feb 2. Since space is limited, it is necessary to sign up in advance for this class. The library will be closed on Mon., Feb 20, in observance of Presidents Day.
