Volcan Dinner/Dance to Celebrate 15th Anniversary
By Bobbi Zane
Friends and members of the Volcan Mountain Foundation will celebrate 15 years of success in preserving 17,000 pristine mountain acres during the foundation's annual dinner/dance on May 7 at Warner Springs Ranch. One of the most popular annual social events in Julian, the dinner/dance is the main fundraising activity conducted by the foundation and all 200 tickets typically sell out well in advance. Proceeds support efforts to purchase and preserve land on the mountain. A highlight of the event is the silent auction that includes prizes such as a week's stay in a condo in Paris, France; a stay at Rancho la Puerta; brunch for two at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach; and a diamond pendant necklace and earrings. The auction includes work by local artists: this year an original watercolor by James Hubbell, a quilt hanging by Dan Olfe and a face casting by John Heglin. Tickets, selling for $65, include wine tasting, the silent auction, buffet dinner and dancing to the tunes of Laguna. Warner Springs Ranch is offering special pricing for overnight accommodations for those attending the event. To reserve or for more information. call Volcan Mountain Foundation at (760) 765-2300.
