Kiwanis Bow-Wow Pow-Wow Set for June 10

The second annual Kiwanis Bow-Wow Pow-Wow will be held once again at the Ramona Fair Grounds from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 10. All Ramona area dog owners and dog lovers are invited to attend and enter their pets in any of the 12 fun dog contests. Ribbons will be awarded to all animals entered. A trophy will go to the "Best in Show" dog that was entered in at least two contests and placed first in at least one.

Local judges will be overseeing the many competitions. Contests are: best costume for both adult and children's dogs; dog and owner look-alike; most unusual markings; most beautiful female; most handsome male; best trick; best tail wagger; best kisser; cutest dog; best singer; and the best in show.

Entry check-in starts at 10 a.m. and the entry fee is $5 for each category. Hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos and soda will be prepared by the Kiwanis Club chuckwagon group. Music will be provided by the KiwaniKats Harmonica Band. Dozens of prizes will be offered as the Ramona Rodeo Queens circulate throughout the fairgrounds selling chances at $1 each of six for $5. There also will be a bake sale table.

Participating sponsors are: Kahoots Animals and Supplies; Baja Animal Sanctuary; Escondido Humane Society;

San Diego County Department of Animal Services; Greyhound Connection; and the Emergency Animal Rescue in Ramona. There will be a selection of dogs available for adoption at the event.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children 12 and under.

Proceeds will be shared with the Emergency Animal Rescue group and the children and senior community service projects that are funded by Ramona Kiwanis Foundation
