Bart Spencer Franco, of Ramona, received his Eagle Scout award at an Eagle Court of Honor on May 27 at San Vicente Inn & Golf Course. He is a member of Crew 631 which is chartered to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ramona Ward. To earn the highest award in scouting, Bart earned 23 merit badges, served as a leader in his troop, team and crew and completed a major community service project benefiting Sun Valley Charter High School. The 160-plus hours project found Bart supervising the construction of two picnic tables as well as a solar-lighted marquee behind the school to display messages for parents. He and his family held a carwash at the school to solicit funds for the project. The tables were built by members, friends and family of Crew 631. The marquee was designed by Raul Franco's co-worker and was constructed by Bart, an electrician and a carpenter from Sharp Grossmont Hospital's engineering department. A solar-powered lighting system was designed and installed by staff from One Source Electrical Suppliers.
