Delta Fest Offers Southen Hospitality

The music and culture of the Mississippi Delta will come to life during the first Julian Delta Blues Festival on Aug. 19.

Along with live music, there will be southern favorites like fried catfish, collard greens, cornbread, blackberry cobbler and southern ice tea, according to Karen Huff, festival coordinator.

Visitors can also take a black history tour, which will depart from Julian Town Hall.

The Julian Delta Blues Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is free. It is one of several events sponsored by the Julian Black Historical Society to commemorate the history of early black settlers to the area.

For more information about the festival visit www.julian blackhistoricalsociety.org or call 760-765-1120.
