Ranchita Barbecue and Raffle Fundraiser Set for Aug. 26

Summer is here, which means it's time for the Montezuma Valley Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Barbecue and Raffle on Saturday, Aug. 26 in Ranchita.

The department, also known as Ranchita Fire and Rescue, is funded through donations and grants. Operating funds are raised during the year through monthly breakfasts and dinners, and through the annual barbecue.

Funds raised support daily operating costs including, utilities, vehicle maintenance, station upkeep and insurance for firefighters.

This year's events and activities include a barbecue beef dinner, live music, a dunk tank, a jumper for

kids, horseshoes and a raffle. The barbecue will take place at the station, 37370 Montezuma Valley Road in Ranchita. Tickets for the BBQ are
