Clubs & Organizations

Ramona's clubs and organizations offer a variety of happenings during the fall season. Read on and take advantage of the many opportunities available.

Ramona Swap Meet

There will be a Ramona Swap meet held at Collier Park, 626 E St. from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 4. Sellers can reserve their space for $5 by calling Collier Community Park at 760-789-6002.

Ramona Art Guild

The Art Guild meets at 7 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month in the Ramona Library Community Room at 1406 Montecito Road. The guild is open to artists and those interested in art. Dues are $15 annually. Refreshments are served. For more information, call Isabel McCauley at 760-789-0494.

Wellness Opportunity

Wellness Opportunity is an informational meeting that will be held Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Ramona Sizzler, 344 Main St. Topics discussed are nutrition, eating habits, supplements, and what your body is trying to tell you. Ramona Garden Club

On Nov. 8, the Ramona Garden Club will welcome Judi Brady, co-owner of Rusty Acres Herb Farm located in Rainbow. Judi will be sharing her knowledge of growing lavender and its culinary and healing attributes. Her 9-acre farm features 130 varieties of organically grown lavender. She produces a variety of lavender products, which will be available at the meeting. George Speer, president of Palomar District of the California Garden Clubs Inc., will discuss the benefits, activities and functions of the Palomar district at the state and national levels. The Ramona Garden Club meets at noon on the second Wednesday of each month at the Ramona Community Library Resource Room. Team Women Ramona/ Intermountain Chapter

Team Women Ramona/ Intermountain Chapter networking group will hold its next meeting on Nov. 8. The women only networking group meets from noon to 1 p.m. every 2nd and 4th Wednesday at the Ramona Sizzler, 344 Main St. Each business may be represented by one member and the members will refer business within the chapter. Donations to Platoon in Iraq for Holidays

Team Women Ramona Chapter has adopted a platoon in Iraq for the holidays. Our soldiers would like snack food and miscellaneous male and female supplies. Microwave popcorn, individually wrapped candy, American snack foods that can travel like beef jerky and powdered drink mixes. Birthday candles, birthday cards, etc. travel size shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, batteries, CDs and DVDs. Board games, pens and stationary, magazines, books, body powders, foot creams, black socks and white socks. Vineyard Association

Ramona Valley Vineyard Association is a "grape-roots" organization that meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at members' homes/vineyards. The group discusses topics such as viticulture and other matters of interest to the vineyard and winemaking community. Current projects include encouragement of new vineyard development, vineyard expansion and utilization of sustainable agricultural practices. Ramona Valley is designated as an American Viticultural Area. The next RVVA meeting will be 7 p.m. on Nov. 28. New members and visitors are welcome. Ramona Natural Childbirth Support Group

The topic "Positive Images of Birth" will be presented at the next Ramona Natural Childbirth Support Group, held at 7 p.m. Nov. 15. The meeting is free and will take place at 809 Pine Heights, Ramona. Please call 760-787-0302.

Business Networking

Business Network International is a business and professional networking organization offering members an opportunity to share ideas, contacts and referrals. San Vicente Saddle Club

For 20 years, a group of equestrians in the San Diego Country Estates have met to socialize, talk about horses, compete in equestrian events and take part in activities designed to continue the equestrian sport. Each year, the San Vicente Saddle Club presents events that range from organized monthly rides and fun shows, to out-of-the-saddle events. The club's goals are to fellowship with other riders (and non-riders alike), to foster safe equestrian activities, to offer opportunities to meet new riders as well as demonstrate equestrian skills. Meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month in the Rotunda at the International Equestrian Center in the San Diego Country Estates, 16911 Gunn Stage Road. Hospice

Elizabeth Hospice is facilitating a free education and support group for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. This group meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at Ramona Medical Group, 1516 Main St., Suite 104. Call AnnMarie Whitehead at 760-737-2050.

Fibromyalgia Support Group

Fibromyalgia Support Group of Ramona provides an opportunity of information sharing, encouragement and fellowship. For meeting location and time, contact Nancy Harding at 760-789-1635.

Kiwanis of Ramona

Al-Anon

Al-Anon Family Group meets at 8 a.m. Saturdays and 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays at North Rural Recovery Center, 323 Hunter St. Visit www.alanonsandiego.org.

LeTip

LeTip of Ramona is a professional networking organization of women and men dedicated to the highest standards of competence and service. Its primary purpose is to give and receive qualified business tips or leads. Each business category is represented by one member. Ramona Chamber Christmas Tree Lighting and Installation Dinner

The annual Christmas Tree Lighting is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 9 at 1331 Main St. Contact the chamber if you are interested in becoming a vendor or sponsor. The installation dinner will be held Jan. 13, 2007 at Barona Casino and Resort in the Oak Tree Ballroom.

Chamber Mixer

Ramona Chamber of Commerce's November networking mixer will be held at Ramona Sentinel, 425 10th St. The mixer will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 16. Ramona Women's Connection

The Ramona Women's Connection will be featuring a fashion show by the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet at its Nov. 15 meeting. There will be fall and winter fashions, plus clothes for holiday events. Fashion show coordinator Connie Sabon has also included jewelry and Christmas decorations in the event. Residents are welcome to come early to view and choose items to purchase later at the store. Sabon is a member of the board of directors and volunteer at the Ramona Food and Clothes Closet. Also on the program will be Dr. Adrienne DiCamillo, management consultant and psychologist. She will be presenting a talk titled, "How to Live a Fairy Tale Life." DiCamillo works in the areas of strategic business planning and new product development and also maintains a part-time private practice as a marriage and family therapist. The Fashion Show and salad bar luncheon will be at the Ramona Sizzler Restaurant, 4th and Main streets at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 15. The cost of $8.50 includes the lunch. Ramona Rotary Club

The Ramona Rotary Club meets at noon Tuesdays at Ramona Sizzler, 344 Main St.

Ramona Trails Association

Ramona Trails Association is actively involved in the trail planning of the community. RTA is a non-profit service group staffed by volunteers and financed by membership dues, fundraising events and donations. The group's mission is to retain access to and maintain existing non-motorized, multi-use trails as well as actively encouraging new trail development on both public and private lands. RTA general meetings are open to the public and are held the first Wednesdays of each month. The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Ramona Community Center, 434 Aqua Lane. Ramona Woman's Club

The next meeting will be held at the Clubhouse at 524 Main St. at 1 p.m. on Nov. 2. Come meet Joe Sullivan, Cowboy Poet. His repertoire is vast. Linda Knowles and Mercedes Montijo will be hostesses. There will be a card party and lunch at noon on Nov. 9. Cost for the lunch is $6 and reservations may be made through Dorothy Berry at 760-788-2073. Hostesses will be Berna Robb and Rita Courtney. Betty Carpenter will serve as hostess. On Nov. 16 the Lady Bugs will meet in the parking lot at 10 a.m. members will carpool to Plant World in Escondido.
