Julian Eagle Booster Club
By Amber Ward

The Julian High School Eagle Booster Club is a parent-teacher organization that raises funds to support student athletes and their coaches.

The Eagle Booster Club is responsible for helping to finance purchases such as uniforms, equipment and team participation in clinics that improve player knowledge and skills. Club members also work with the ASB and the junior class to raise money that will benefit all of Julian's students. The club's goal is to "enhance the school and the experience, for the athletes."

To support student athletes, the Eagle Booster Club started a scholarship for Julian High School seniors. There are scholarships available to one male and one female athlete, the recipients are determined by their coaches.

Six years ago, the club also purchased eight-passenger vans, which are used to transport Julian teams to away games. The club is also responsible for the lights at Julian's first night game, held on Oct. 13, during homecoming.

Currently, club members are working with the junior class to raise money to purchase and fund a concession stand. In addition, the club sponsors the annual Julian Run, which is set this year for Nov. 4. Proceeds from the event will allow the junior class to raise money for its "senior contribution," the concession stand, and the school's athletes.

If you are interested in supporting the Eagle Booster Club and its projects, join the Julian Run. There are several runs to choose from, a 10K, 5K and a 1K for the kids.

The run will start at Julian High School at 8 a.m., and both the 10K and 5K will go through downtown Julian. The 10K will continue to Menghini Winery, before returning to the school. There will be live music, trophies, a raffle open to the public, refreshments and food.

Registration is available online at www.kathyloperevents.com or same day registration for the event is $28. For more information about the run, call 619-298-7400.
