Julian Library Preschool Programs
"Preschool Storytime" will take place every Wednesday at 11 a.m.
The "coloring table" will be available every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"Bi-Lingual Storytime and Craft," an English/Spanish story hour, will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m.
Julian Library Youth Programs
The "Pokemon League" meets every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Bring your cards, and join this official Pokemon League led by an expert player, Mark Kovaks. New members are always welcome to come and learn how to play.
"Thursday Crafts" will be held on Jan. 18 at 3 p.m. There will be crafts, cookies and a movie.
"Movie Night at the Library" will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. There will be free, all-you-can-eat popcorn and soda.
Julian Library Adult Programs
An on-going "Computer Class" for all ages is currently being held every Thursday at 10 a.m. This is a slow-paced class that offers individual attention.
A "Writer's Workshop" will be held on Jan. 9 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
"Fitness in a Chair" will be held Jan. 5, 12, and 19 at 9 a.m. You will be led in gentle exercises, while sitting in or using a chair for support. Class will take place in the Community Room.
A "Good morning Yoga" class, led by yoga instructor Karen Mills, will take place on Jan. 26 at 9 a.m. in the Community Room of the library.
Starting Jan. 17, "College Success Skills," a Palomar College Course, will take place every Wednesday from 5 to 7:50 p.m. in the community Room. Taught by Carl Sweptson, MFT, this is a course recommended for new and re-entry students. Class topics will include motivation, self-discipline, memory techniques, time management, career planning and personal issues. Featured Artist: Joe Garcia
Joe Garcia will be featured at the Santa Ysabel Art Gallery through Jan. 7. The exhibit, "Mixing It Up," will feature his wildlife watercolors, plein air oil paintings and large studio oil pieces of wildlife and landscapes. The gallery is located at 30352 Highway 78 at Highway 79 in Santa Ysabel, and is open Thursday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 760-765-1676.
Craft Show
The "Home Show" will be at the Julian Town Hall through Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chamber Mixer
Julian Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 4 at The Pine Hills Lodge. There will be complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar. Remember to bring a door prize to promote your business. For more information, contact the chamber at 760-765-1857.
Arts & Craft Show
The Dawn Kirk Crafters "Arts & Crafts Show" will take place Jan. 13-15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Julian Town Hall.
Rose Expert
Dick Streeper, a famous Rosarian, will be demonstrating the pruning and care of roses at 4815 Pine Ridge Ave. in Pine Hills on Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. For more information call 760-765-1538. Sponsored by the Julian Woman's Club.
Borrego Springs Century
Formally known as Borrego to the Sea, this annual R & B Bicycle Club event will take place Jan. 27 at Palm Canyon Resort in Borrego Springs. There is a 400 rider limit for this awesome desert bike event. There are several paved road rides to choose from including a 100-mile ride. Registration opens at 7 a.m., and all rides have a start window between 8 and 9 a.m. You can register online at www.julianactive.com. Your fee includes well-stocked rest stops along the way, a colorful event T-shirt and after the ride you will be treated with Julian pie and ice cream, along with other refreshments.
