Ramona Pioneer Historical Society Program to Feature Author Charles LeMenager

Charles LeMenager will give a preview of his forthcoming book "San Luis Rey, Struggle for a River" at the next meeting of the Ramona Pioneer Historical Society. The potluck dinner meeting will be held in the Barnett Barn at the Guy B. Woodward Museum on Tuesday, February 20, 6:30 p.m.

Mr. LeMenager is author of three other books on backcountry San Diego County history: "Off the Main Road, San Vicente & Barona," "Ramona & Round About" and "Julian City & Cuyamaca Country." His new work includes, among other historical events, removal of Warner Springs' Indians, early development of water resources for Escondido and Vista Irrigation districts and the long-running dispute over San Luis Rey water rights with the Pala, Pauma, Rincon, La Jolla and San Pasqual tribes. The author also wrote "Flying After 50, You're not Too Old To Start" and "Teenager Family History."

Those attending the pot-luck are asked to bring a main dish, salad or dessert to serve eight. Call 760-789-7644 for information. The Museum is located at 645 Main Street.
