Services Resume at Community United Methodist Church
After months of construction, and a temporary congregation move to Julian Junior High, the Community United Methodist Church of Julian has returned to its building. The first service held at the United Methodist Church took place on Wednesday, Nov. 26 in 1969. Rev. Samuel Bennett presided over the Thanksgiving service, while Fr. Carl Kullmass, pastor of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, who was also in attendance was pleased to visit the new building. The Julian Community Preschool has also returned to the Community United Methodist Church building. Originally constructed in 1968, the church had not seen much change through the years. After several years of planning and fundraising, the church now enjoys a new kitchen, handicap accessible restrooms, a fellowship area and stained glass windows designed by renowned artist, James Hubbell. A Service of Dedication is scheduled for 2 p.m. Feb. 25. Both the service and the reception that will follow will celebrate the new building and the revitalization of the ministries. There will be special guests, music and a heartfelt thanks to God.
The church is located on Highway 78 near Pine Hills Road. For more information, contact the church office at 760-765-0114.
