Julian Doves & Desperados
The Julian Doves & Desperados will be performing historic comedy skits at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Sundays (weather permitting) at the stage area located between Cabbages & Kings and the Julian Market & Deli. For more information, call 760-765-1857.
Desert Hike
Join Robin Halford, author of "Hiking in Anza-Borrego: Over 100 Half-Day Hikes," for a nature walk through Horneblend Canyon from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 5. Identify a variety of desert vegetation, view Indian grinding holes, and climb for a view of Rodriguez Canyon. Considered a strenuous hike of 4.6 miles, bring water, lunch, good shoes and don't forget a hat and sunscreen. There is no charge for the hike but reservations are required. Meet on S-2 at mile-marker 26.1, approximately 8.8 miles south of Scissors Crossing, just past the Box Canyon Monument. Park in the small pullout at the bottom of the hill on the left side. Annual Chamber Installation Dinner
The Julian Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Installation Dinner on Friday, Feb. 9, at the Julian Town Hall. The Candied Apple Pastry Co. will be catering dinner, and the menu includes, Cajun Greens, Jumpin' Red Jambalaya, Cajun Kissed BBQ Pork Loin, Red Beans and Rice, Green Bean Surprise Casserole, French Bread and "The Jester's Choice" for dessert. Wine will be provided by the Menghini Winery. Dinner starts at 6 p.m., and the cost is $25 a person or $45 a couple. To make reservations, or for more information, call 760-765-1857.
Craft Show
The Town Hall Crafters will be at the Julian Town Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 10-11.
Desert Wildflowers Lecture
Sia Morhardt and J. Emil Morhardt, authors and photographers of "California Desert Flowers: An Introduction to Families, Genera, and Species," will be at the Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 16. This Wildflower Lecture is sponsored by John Drum, and is part of the ABDNHA 35th Annual Desert Lecture Series. The program is free for ABDNHA members, and $5 at the door for non-members. Birding "Hot Spots" Trip to Salton Sea
Take a trip to the Salton Sea and the Sonny Bono Wildlife Refuge with birder Jim Fuller from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 17. View wintering birds, such as snow geese, brown pelicans and sandbill cranes. Meet at the Anza-Borrego Desert Nature Center, 652 Palm Canyon Drive, where carpooling and a caravan will be arranged. Be sure to bring binoculars, a field guide, water, lunch, a hat and a chair. Arts & Crafts Show
The Dawn Kirk Crafters will hold its Arts & Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 17-19 at the Julian Town Hall.
Merchant's Breakfast

Julian Black History Month Festival
The First Julian Black History Month Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Julian Town Hall. The event will feature live music, history, a pancake breakfast and a southern lunch. Methodist Church Dedication Service
The Community United Methodist Church of Julian will hold a "Service of Dedication" at 2 p.m. Feb. 25. The service and reception that will follow will celebrate the new building. Tour of Borrego
R&B Bicycle Club will hold its annual "Tour of Borrego" on Saturday, March 3. Hosted by Palm Canyon Resort, this popular event offers a choice of a 22-mile, 40-mile, or 62-mile ride around the valley of Borrego Springs. Registration opens at 7 a.m. and the first ride departs at 9 a.m. On Sunday, March 4, there will also be an optional time trial hill climb, to the top of Montezuma Grade, taking place at 8 a.m. Registration for these events are also available online at www.julianactive.com, or for more information, call 760-765-2200.
Julian 7500
Endurance Ride
R& B Bicycle Club will host the Julian 7500 Endurance Ride March 31. For the experienced and conditioned mountain bike rider, this course consists of three loops that all start and end in the town site of Julian. Time limits will be set in order to continue on to the 2nd and 3rd loops. There is a 200-rider limit so be sure to register early at www.julianactive.com or call 760-765-2200, for more information.

Annual Daffodil Show
The Annual Julian Daffodil Show will take place March 3-4 and will be located at the Blue Heron Garden Shop & Gallery. Varieties of daffodils, submitted by local gardeners, will be judged and awarded, and then on display for all to admire. Admission is free.
