Annual Essay Contest Entry Deadline Set for April 28.
The Library Friends of San Diego County (LFSDC) announces the 2007 topic for its annual essay contest for students and adults: "How My Library Could Be Even Better." Entries may be submitted at any branch of the San Diego County Library by Saturday, April 28. Essays should not exceed 500 words. Each participant is allowed one entry. Judging will take place in two age categories: 1) Students through grade 12 and 2) Adults. The first place winner in each of the two divisions will receive $100; second place winners $50; and third place winners: $25 at a meeting of the Library Friends. All six winners will also be recognized at an official, televised meeting of the County Board of Supervisors. Judging will be done on the basis of presentation, originality, and correctness. Entrants will be asked to allow their essays to be published by the library and media in support of library promotion. Full credit will be given to the authors. All entrants will receive a certificate of participation suitable for framing. The entry form is available online at www.sdcl.org and at all branches of the County Library. Entries can be submitted to any branch of the San Diego County Library or to one of the County's two mobile libraries.
