Julian Doves & Desperados

The Julian Doves & Desperados will be performing historic comedy skits at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. (weather permitting) Sundays at the stage area between Cabbages & Kings and the Julian Market & Deli. For more information, call 760-765-1857.

It's Still Life

The Santa Ysabel Art Gallery presents the painting exhibit, "It's Still Life" March 1-18. The Santa Ysabel Art Gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Monday and is located at 30352 Highway 78 at Highway 79 in Santa Ysabel. For more information, call 760-765-1676.

The Julian Arts Guild & Friends will host a "Daffodil Art Show" from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 2-4 at the Julian Town Hall. For more information, call 760-765-2569.

Daffodil Show

This annual Julian event will be taking place March 2-4 at the Blue Heron Garden Shop & Gallery, 2116 Third St. Varieties of Daffodils, submitted by local gardeners, will be judged and awarded, and then on display for all to admire. Judging will take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2 and daffodils will be on display place from noon to

Tour of Borrego

R&B Bicycle Club will hold its annual "Tour of Borrego" on Saturday, March 3. Hosted by Palm Canyon Resort, this popular event offers a choice of a 22-mile, 40-mile or 62-mile ride around the beautiful valley of Borrego Springs. Registration opens at 7 a.m. and the first ride departs at 9 a.m. On Sunday, March 4, there will also be an optional time trial hill climb, to the top of Montezuma Grade, taking place at 8 a.m. Registration for these events are also available at www.julian

Guided Desert Hike

A guided hike to the abandoned, Pilot Mine, will take place from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 5. Join Robin Halford for a 4.6-mile hike, not a nature walk. Bring lunch, hat, sunscreen, extra water; wear long pants, sturdy boots, and bring a walking stick for areas of loose rock. Meet at the Borrego Desert Nature Center, and a carpool will take you to an area with limited parking along S-2, located 7.5 miles south of Scissors Crossing. Call 760-767-3098 for reservations. There is no fee, but there is only a 10-person maximum allowed.

Craft Show

The Town Hall Crafters will be at the Julian Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 10 and 11.

4WD Tour of Ocotillo Wells

On March 14, Suzanne Granger will lead a 4WD tour to discover the "Treasures of Ocotillo Wells" from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visit an ancient shoreline, Native American fish traps, waters percolating from underground, a movie set where Richard Burton once starred, and a native garden created by park staff within the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area. Meet at the Borrego Desert Nature Center, 4WD is required. Call 760-767-3098 for reservations.

Home Show

The Home Show will be located in the upstairs of the Julian Town Hall, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16 through April 9.

St. Elizabeth's Emerald Ball

St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church is hosting its annual Emerald Ball March 17 at the Julian Town Hall. There will be dinner, music, dancing and door prizes. Tickets must be purchased in advance. For more information, call 760-765-4871.

Arts & Crafts Show

The Dawn Kirk Crafters will be holding its Arts & Crafts Show March 17-18 and March 31 through April 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Julian Town Hall.

Desert Flowers Slides and Field Trip

On March 17, learn about desert blooms with volunteer naturalist Karole Fuller at 10 a.m. This hour-long program will be followed by a field trip, consisting of short walks in the area. Bring lunch, water and a hat. For reservations, call 760-767-3098.

Desert Flowers Tour

Join volunteer naturalist Linda King on March 18 for a "Desert Flowers Tour" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This caravan trip will visit several places that support specific types of flowers. From sand dunes to alluvial fans, and from rocky canyon slopes to transition zones at higher elevation you'll get a good feel for what kinds of flowers grow where and why. The tour will consist of several short walks under one mile. The carpool will leave from the Borrego Desert Nature Center. Wear walking shoes and bring water, lunch, a hat and sunscreen. Merchant's Breakfast

The Julian Merchant Association's Monthly Breakfast will take place March 21 at the Cuyamaca Restaurant. Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. and the cost is $8 for members, and $10 for non-members. For more information, contact Tracy at 760-765-4758.

Circle of Art

The annual "Circle of Art" show will take place March 24 and 25, and will be located at Christmas Circle in Borrego Springs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 760-767-4586.

ABDNHA's 9th Desert Garden Tour

This self-paced tour of four private gardens will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

March 25. Tickets are available at the Borrego Desert Nature Center. The cost is $14 for ABDNHA members, $18 for non-members, and $12 for volunteers. There is an "Early-bird Special," purchase tickets on or before March 10 and save $2 per ticket. Payment is required at the time of reservation. Visa, Discover and MasterCard accepted. Checks may be made payable to ABDNHA. Send checks to ABDNHA Garden Tour Tickets, P.O. Box 310, Borrego Springs, CA 92004-0310. All reserved tickets will be held at the Borrego Desert Nature Center for pick up.

Julian 7500 Endurance Ride

R& B Bicycle Club will host the Julian 7500 Endurance Ride March 31. For the experienced and conditioned mountain bike rider, this course consists of three loops that all start and end in the town site of Julian. Time limits will be set in order to continue on to the 2nd and 3rd loops. There is a 200-rider limit so be sure to register early at www.julianactive.com, or call 760-765-2200, for more information.

Easter Egg Hunt

Sponsored by the Miss Julian Pageant and the Julian Merchants Association, a "Royal Easter Egg Hunt" will take place at 10 a.m. April 7. There will be an egg hunt for the little ones, a raffle for the adults, and refreshments for all. For more information, call 619-929-9858.
