RJAD Wins Top Studio Award

Dancers from the Ramona/ Julian Academy of Dance walked away with several awards during the Dance Educators of America Competition in Long Beach on Feb. 3.

Fifty-two students representing 18 teams competed in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, acro and lyrical. The dancers captured three Platinum, eight Gold and seven Silver trophies in addition to four Special Judges awards.

High Score first-place trophies were awarded to seven teams, two second place and three third place. The

overall High Score of the competition was awarded to the senior lyrical trio for a piece called "Inner Cities of the Soul."

Coach Valerie Ingram was awarded the Outstanding Choreographer Award and the Ramona/Julian Academy of Dance received a cash award and Top Studio trophy for the most High Scores of the competition.
