Julian Doves & Desperados

Chamber Mixer
The Julian Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly mixer on April 5, at Mountain Farms Realty, located at 2019 Main St., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be a no host bar, hors d'oeuvres and a raffle. Bring a door prize and promote your business. For more information, call 760-765-1857.
Julian Bookhouse Open House

Guided Hike

Easter Egg Hunt
Sponsored by the Miss Julian Pageant and the Julian Merchants Association, a "Royal Easter Egg Hunt" will take place at Wynola Junction Antiques at 10 a.m. on April 7. There will be an egg hunt, a raffle and some light refreshments. For more information, call 619-929-9858.
Easter Brunch
The Pine Hills Lodge will host its annual Easter Brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 8. There will also be an egg hunt at 11 a.m. The menu includes waffles and whipped cream, smoked salmon and cream cheese, an omelet station, a carving station featuring ham, turkey, and top sirloin, salad and veggies, fresh fruit served with chocolate fondue, and more. Native Cacti Field Trip
Discover Southern California's native cacti locally with Jon P. Rebman, Ph.D., Curator of Botony, from the San Diego Natural History Museum, on April 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at Borrego Nature Center for orientation, then head to Scissors Crossing, and later view cacti down S-2 and finish in Mountain Springs, if there is time. Bring water, lunch and snacks. There is fee for this trip, but reservations are required and space is limited. For more information, call 760-767-3098.
Campo Railroad Tour
Led by Naturalist Paul Johnson, take a trip to the historic Campo Railroad Museum and ride on the vintage railroad. After visiting the museum's gift shop and Boxcar Theater, the trip will depart from the Campo Depot for an 11 a.m. ride on the Golden State, a standard weekend excursion operating since 1986. This is a 12-16 mile round trip journey through history. A caravan will be led from Christmas Circle to Campo, and after the train ride the caravan will head back making special stops on the way, including the famous Wisteria Candy Cottage in Boulevard. Passenger cars are OK. Bring lunch, water and a full tank of gas. Reserve your space early, a minimum of 15 people are needed for the trip to go. Julian Merchant's Association
The Julian Merchant Association's open house days starts its season Monday, April 16, in Santa Ysabel. Participants in April's event are Santa Ysabel General Store & Antiques, Sherrill Orchards, Santa Ysabel Art Gallery, and Once Upon a Time. The Julian Merchant Association's Monthly Breakfast will take place April 18 at the Julian Woman's Club located on C Street. Breakfast starts at 8 a.m. and will be followed by guest speakers from the Manzanita High Mountain Rendezvous. The cost is $8 for members, and $10 for non-members. Rendezvous
