Relay for Life

Darci Hannum and Melissa Richardson at last year's relay.
For 24 hours, starting at 10 a.m. April 24, Ramona residents will join the fight against cancer during the third annual Relay for Life.

The event is an all-night vigil that raises funds for the American Cancer Society's cancer research, community education and local programs.

Residents form teams and will camp out around Olive Peirce Middle School's track at the family-oriented event. Participants will walk or run - relay style - around the track for 24 hours. There will also be karate demonstrations, karaoke, survivor ceremony, luncheon and luminaria ceremony.

Relay for Life takes place in more than 3,800 communities nationwide. Ramona's event will host more than 15 teams and is expected to raise about $40,000.

Olive Peirce Middle School is located at 1521 Hanson Lane. For more information, visit www.relayforlife.org.
