Clubs & Organizations Section Ramona's clubs and organizations offer a variety of information, activities and opportunities available to you. SUPPORT GROUPS Al-Anon Al-Anon Family Group meets at 8 a.m. Saturdays and 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays at North Rural Recovery Center, 323 Hunter St. Visit www.alanonsandiego.org. Alzheimer's Support Group The Alzheimer's support group meets the third Wed. of each month at 10 a.m. at the Ramona Senior Center. Call 760-787-0172 for more information. Cancer Support Group The Ramona Cancer support group meets the first Wed. of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Library Community Room. Call 760-789-0602 for more information. Hospice Elizabeth Hospice is facilitating a free education and support group for anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. This group meets from 10:30 a.m. to noon Fridays at Ramona Senior Center, 434 Aqua Lane. Call The Elizabeth Hospice Bereavement Department at 760-737-2050 for more information. Ramona/Julian Health Care Advisory Council The R/JHCAC is one of five regional community councils working together with Palomar Pomerado Health to identify and address the health care needs of our local community through mutual support and partnership. Participation is opened to agency and community representatives, and concerned citizens at the local and regional level. Meetings are held the first Friday in the months of September and December in the Ramona Community Center at 434 Aqua Lane at 8:30 a.m. Contact Nancy Roy at 760-789-1195 for more information. CLUBS Miss Ramona Pageant The Miss Ramona Scholarship Pageant now has its own Website. Anyone interested can visit www.missramona.com. Ramona Art Guild The Art Guild meets the third Wednesday of each month except for July and August at 7 p.m. in the Ramona Library Community Room at 1406 Montecito Road. Boys and Girls Clubs Offers Salvation Army Camp The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego-Ramona Branch is accepting applications for the Salvation Army Camp "Wildwood Ranch." The community service camp offers a variety of camp experiences, including swimming, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, frisbee golf, mountain biking, archery, crafts, campfires, hiking and more. All campers must be between the ages of 7 and 12. The Teen Sports Camp offers the same events as the community service camps, but also adds team sports such as football, basketball, soccer and softball, and visits from professional and amateur sports teams. Campers must be between the ages of 11 and 17. The first camp begins June 25- 30, and will run until the beginning of August. The camp is located at 14488 Mussey Grade Road in Ramona. Ramona Valley Vineyard Association Ramona Valley Vineyard Association is a "grape-roots" organization that meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at members' homes/ vineyards. The group discusses topics such as viticulture and other matters of interest to the vineyard and winemaking community. Current projects include encouragement of new vineyard development, vineyard expansion and utilization of sustainable agricultural practices. Ramona Valley is designated as an American Viticultural Area. New members and visitors are welcome. Ramona Garden Club The Ramona Garden Club meets at noon on the second Wednesday of each month (excluding July/August) at the Ramona Women's Club at 524 Main Street. San Vicente Valley Club The San Vicente Valley Club will resume monthly luncheons the last Wednesday in September. Those interested in membership should contact Kaaren Thiem at 760-788-4840. Ramona Council of Arts, Unlimited - Offers Summer Classes Openings are available for children and adults interested in summer classes and workshops. Classes offered include jazz/hip hop dance, tumbling and beam, preschool dance, fitness, tot tumbling, contemporary dance technique and children's yoga. Registration is ongoing at Jill's Dance Studio, 101 Eighth Street, Ramona, or call 760-788-0914. The Council is also offering a summer program called "Summer Dancin' '07." The program, offered the past 18 years in Ramona, is coordinated by Arvie Degenfelder and Jill Bacorn. The dance workshop is offered to children age 10 through adults. Instructors are John Diaz and Terry Wilson, professional dancers from Jean Isaac's San Diego Dance Theater. The workshop is held for three weeks, from July 23 to August 11. Space is limited. Arts, Unlimited annual dance recital is June 9 at 7 p.m. at the OPMS Performing Arts Center. Adults and children as young as 2 years will participate in the program titled, "The Way You Move." Ramona Fireworks will take place at Olive Pierce Middle School on July 4th, 5 - 9 p.m. Soroptimist Soroptimist International of Ramona is a worldwide service organization for women in management and professions. The women-only service organization meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday. Meetings are held at the home of Kathy Brumfield on the 2nd Tuesday at 8 a.m. The 4th Tuesday meetings are held at 7 p.m. in the conference room at San Vicente Inn, Ramona. Chamber of Commerce Mixer Ramona Chamber of Commerce's July 19 networking mixer will be hosted by Rubios Fresh Mexican Grill, located at 1664 Main Street, Ramona.
