A fire broke out on Highway 78 at Deer Canyon Road near Santa Ysabel on Sunday, July 1. Dubbed the "Deer Fire," it was reported that 60 acres were burned. At the same time, a fire at Wynola Road and Banner Grade, the "Banner Fire," eventually totaled 110 acres. Above, a view of the Deer Fire from Highway 78 after a fire retardant drop.
