Gold Rush Days Highlight of Concert

Julian's gold rush days will be highlighted in a free concert in Alpine. The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 1.

"Gold Hill" will be performed by the Celia Lawley Trio, which includes Lawley on fiddle, Mark Windrum on upright bass and Tony Butler on guitar. Lawley is San Diego's premier fiddle player, and she will be playing six additional instruments during the performance. The show consists of 12 of Lawley's original songs about Julian's gold rush days.

The performance is free, and will be held on the Concerts in the Park stage at the Viejas Outlet Center, 5005 Willows Road, Alpine. Bring a blanket or folding chair to set on the grass. Two of Lawley's other bands will also perform. The evening will begin with Mulligan Stew, an Irish band; next will be Thunder Rose, Lawley's country group; and the Celia Lawley Trio will close. Period photographs will be on display during the concert.
