Gathering at Santa Ysabel

The 9th Annual Santa Ysabel Traditional Gathering will take place Saturday, Aug. 4. Sponsored by Santa Ysabel Resort and Casino, this event will provide an opportunity to get to know the members and history of the Santa Ysabel Indian Reservation.

Throughout the day there will be birdsinging (traditional Native American chanting and music), raffles, arts and crafts and food booths. The gathering's welcoming/blessing will take place at noon. The day's activities include, food eating contests, kid's games, tug-o-war, a community dinner and a horseshoe tournament. Peon games will begin at dusk.

This is a drug and alcohol free event. The gathering will take place at the Santa Ysabel ball field, next to the Santa Ysabel Indian Mission. For more information, call
