Seeing is BELIEVING!

Vision wellness isn't the only thing you'll find at Precision Eye Care in Ramona, whose latest specialties include Botox and skin care conservation.

Botox is a cosmetic procedure used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe lines, says Dr. Gordon J. Montgomery, owner of Precision Eye Care and one of the only certified administers of Botox in Ramona.

Botox is a non-surgical treatment with little or no side effects. "It's not at all painful," says Montgomery, who uses a special technique to administer the tiny injections.

Treatments take as little as 10 minutes with minimal swelling at which time the patient exercises his or her face to spread medication throughout the muscles. There is no recovery time so patients can go about the rest of their day with ease, expecting to see noticeable results in three to four days.

Montgomery says he sees a 98 percent satisfaction rate and some of the most common areas of treatment are between the eyebrows, on the forehead, the sides of eye and corners of the mouth. He adds that it's not a life-altering change and that results can last up to six months.

"One of the misconceptions people have about Botox is that it can create a frown or that people will not be capable of having facial expression," says Montgomery, who assures his patients, "You won't get a plastic face."

Montgomery offers a free consultation, where a patient can express concerns and talk about realistic expectations. If a patient is comfortable, the procedure can be performed that same visit.

Botox is safe for both men and women over the age of 19 and can even be used to prevent or eliminate fine lines with on-going treatment.

Of course, with 31 years of experience as an ophthalmologist, Montogomery tells his patients to have regular eye exams, know their family eye history and protect their eyes from the sun. He adds that because of Ramona's climate, using artifical tears also is a good idea.

He also recommends eye exams for children over 3 years old and accepts most insurance plans.

In an effort to gear up for the popular holiday season where folks want to look their best, Montgomery will host a free information seminar on Botox and skin care conservation.
