Oktoberfest is a two-hundred year old German tradition. It continues to celebrate the German region of Bavaria by bringing us a taste of Germany each year.

When Bavarian crown prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) wed princess Therese from Saxony-Hildburghausen on October 12, 1810, the National Guard organized a large, public festival. The festival was such a success, it became an annual event.

The 12th Annual St. Elizabeth's Oktoberfest will take place October 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rabobank parking lot on Main Street. There will be bratwurst, beer, clowns, face painting and traditional German-Bavarian live music. Admission is free and all proceeds benefit St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church.
