County Library World Music and Cultural Arts Series Continues On Sunday, November 18 at 1 p.m., the Julian Branch of the San Diego County Library, 1850 Highway 78, Julian 92036 will host a two-part San Diego County Library World Music and Cultural Arts program, originally scheduled for Sept. 16, but cancelled because of wildfires that weekend. Ramona resident Erwin Levy will present a talk entitled, "Eyewitness to the Holocaust." In June 1939 at age 15 Levy escaped Germany as part of the Kindertransport to England and later served in the U.S. Army in Europe from 1944-48. He will share his personal account of the period leading up to the Holocaust and the war to defeat the Nazis. Following the talk, the afternoon program features San Diego's Alexander Gourevitch, who has delighted audiences this year at several County libraries. Classically trained in Russia, Alexander Gourevitch is one of the world's top klezmer clarinetists. A third generation klezmer performer, he expresses the soul of klezmer music with his whole body, as he plays rousing dances and soul-stirring Hasidic melodies.
