Art Elite Studio Opens In Pine Hills

An eclectic collection of art by Leena Hannonen and a selection of Julian artists will be available at the Hannonen's new gallery, which opened Nov. 16.

The gallery/studio, located on Van Duesen Road in Julian, holds a collection of objects and wearable art by backcountry artists such as Don Weeke, Charlotte Mitchell, Cindy Triplett, Antonia Cosentino and Polly Jacobs Giacchina.

The initial show features a sculpture garden containing works by Hannonen suitable for outdoor display. There are also custom designed jewelry, hand-knit scarves, ponchos and shawls, stained glass pieces, masks made from gourds, woven baskets, ceramics and paintings.

Art Elite is the latest venture for Hannonen, who has been a driving member of the Julian art community for nearly 10 years. She started the Artists Open Studio tour in 1999, and later opened the Art@78 gallery in Wynola. She has an established following in San Diego County and beyond.

The gallery will be open to patrons on selected weekends and by appointment. For more information, visit: www.artelitedesigns.com or call 760-765-1774.
