Michael Richard Chappelle
He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Princeton during Vietnam. His greatest achievements were his 40-year marriage to Roxy Ann, and being "Dad" to his eight children and "Pa" to his three grandchildren. He enjoyed eating out with friends, buying and restoring vehicles, good jokes, going to the movies and drinking coffee at the Java Hut in the San Diego Country Estates. He is survived by his wife, Roxy Ann, Ramona; son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Lisa Chappelle, Escondido; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bobby Skinner, Ramona; daughters, Julianne, Jessica, Jillian, Jasmine and Jane Anne and son, Jacob Chappelle, all of Ramona; grandchildren, Joseph Chappelle II and Katelyn and Sean Skinner. His surviving family includes his mother-in-law Wilma Sinnott, Escondido; sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Jim Sipes, Washington; nephews Timothy (Lynn) Sipes, CA and Richard (Carol), Washington; great nephew, Jonathan and his great nieces, Kimberly and Madeline. Survivors include his two dogs, Fritz and Heidi. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Bette Chappelle of Placerville, CA. Services and a memorial were held January 26, 2008 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Poway, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to "The Children of Michael Chappelle College Fund" at Washington Mutual, or to the American Heart Association on his tribute page: http://honor.americanheart.org/site/TR/Events/General?pg=fund&fr_id=1030&px=1071921. A private family service will be held at Fort Rosecrans, his final resting place.
