Water District Offers Water-Wise Landscaping Workshops
Ramona Municipal Water District is offering California Friendly Landscape Training Water Conservation Landscape workshops. The Saturday-morning classes are designed to assist residential customers in creating and maintaining water efficient landscapes. A knowledgeable landscape professional provided by the Metropolitan Water District will conduct each class, covering subjects such as the basics of irrigation systems, watering and fertilizing, landscape design and plant selection. California-friendly and native plants used in residential landscapes will be a highlight of the teaching.
One mini-residential class is being offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29. Individual in-depth workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, on the subject of Landscape Design Basics, and on April 26, on the subject of California Friendly and Native Plants.
In addition, a free, three-hour "Firescape" - fire-resistant landscaping - workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 5 for residential customers. Noted expert Douglas Kent, who is an educator, designer, project manager and author of "Firescaping: Creating Fire-resistant Landscapes, Gardens, and Properties in California's Diverse Environments," will speak and answer questions.
All workshops will be held at the Ramona Community Center, 434 Aqua Ln. Those planning to attend should contact Patty Bevers at 760-789-1330 to reserve a space.
