| Ramona Concert Association marks 24 years of bringing quality musical entertainment to Ramona. Season tickets are on sale now, but discounted prices are available only through June 1.
"The season promises to be filled with top quality music, entertainment and variety," said RCA President Marlene Robershaw.
The 2008-09 season begins with The Americus Brass Band performing on Saturday, Sept. 27. The Americus Brass Band is one of the leading historic brass bands in the country, performing music from the Civil War Confederate Army, American West, Buffalo Bill and John Philip Sousa.
Folk singer Wendy Sayvetz and the Abaca Duo will perform on Friday, Oct. 24. Sayvetz sings with an angelic soprano voice ranging from haunting to defiant, and is often compared to Judy Collins and Joan Baez. Abaca Duo will accompany her.
Felici Piano Trio, a unique, three-nation ensemble, will perform on Feb. 21, 2009. Chilean pianist Paulina Zamora, German violinist Rebecca Hang and American cellist Brian Schuldt came together in 1994 to form the group, performing in more than 300 concerts in Europe, South America and the United States. Praised for their joyous music, they exhilarate audiences with dynamic performances accompanied by humorous background commentary.
Highland Way Celtic Band, led by Brian Caldwell of Glasgow Scotland, takes listeners on a musical journey through Scotland and Ireland on March 21, 2009. Joining Caldwell on guitar, bodhran, fiddle, mandolin, bass, whistles and percussion are Heloise Love, Paul Castellanos, Richard Heinz and Pete Connolly. Rousing songs and haunting ballads blend with instrumental medleys for a performance designed to lift spirits and captivate the audience.
Concerts take place at the Charles R. Nunn Performing Arts Center on the campus of Olive Peirce Middle School, 1521 Hanson Ln. Doors open at 7 p.m. and concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Season ticket prices are $25 for adults and $55 for families through June 1, when the season ticket price goes up to $28 and $58.
